The Automobile
I was driving the other day and spotted a minivan much like the Wilson's had in Paris. I had a few memories come to me...driving the Wilson children and tulip to Church out at the conference center, making sure to use the choke button so it didn't die, hitting someone's car in the parking lot there..I think the branch president's car..driving through the narrow streets of Marly Le Roi, driving Abe to the swimming pool to do lessons and having him teach me about the quarters of the moon. P=premier and d=dernier. Cool Abe. It was a happy moment as I rolled down the road in my minivan. xoxo I remember having sweaty knuckles going through L'etoile with Sunflower the first time. Parallel parking her car in Le Vesinet. Roadtripping to Rouen with Jason A. with our box of cereal that I think I gave away to some poor lady on the street...

or the time that I was driving Anna's car in Gien, we had just been to the dish factory and I was trying to figure out how to get out of the city when I turned down one road and then saw all these cars coming toward me....yep, I my one and only time to go down a one way road the wrong way. We both screamed and veared to the right! It was crazy!
Also the cobblestone road that I always called the "low self esteem thigh shaker road" on the way to Anna's house. The fat in your legs would shakes so bad, it wasn't uplifting!
Driving to church I just remember the awkwardness of Brenda not going to church so David and I would ride in the front seats together and once someone asked if we were married!!! UGh!
oh yeah, the memories with the car. I can't believe my audi was in one piece by the time I left France. And yes Ivy, it was you who gave away the granola to the homeless lady! After that we had no box of granola in our pictures. Man, that was a good day. Most of my moments of epiphany in France happened as I was driving around, either late nights through the forest, or afternoons on my way home from picking Jake up, or on long drives to other destinations. I can't ever be thankful enough to God for giving me that car, and all the memories that come with it.
Oh, the fun of the car. How about driving through Germany in the rain? With people flying by so fast you couldn't even see them!
Or the time we almost died taking an exit off the Peripherique(sp? sorry) from the far left lane all the way over!!! I still can't believe that Lynne drove that van all over with those kids being so loud and noisy and just go go go...
