Ok, I struggled to make it through all the description here. I'm with miss "I just threw up in my mouth". It was a hoot, don't get me wrong, I laughed and can have a sense of humour about it but the very idea haunted me. Bacon? Little slices of cruelly treated Wilbers wrested from their mother and raised in a jail. Slices of heart-attack waiting to coat your arteries and raise your blood-pressure? Added to what? Not an innocent salad but a chocolate-chip cookie! It's already a guilty pleasure! YUCKLYBLUCKYGAGGY!
So I kept coming back to this diverting post and saw the lovely zucchini freshly picked sitting on my kitchen island. Now THERE is a food that can go with ANYTHING. From cookies to mushrooms, really, anything is improved with zucchini. Then I had another strange thought. There are people in this world who would be more inclined to agree with the fatty-lady, the bacon-cookie lady than me about the zucchini!!!!!
Woah.
(Just as a side note. Here's another embarassing thought. My peanut butter obsession. While thankfully lacking the cruelty aspect, it's also a sinfully guilty addition to the already indulging foods I add it too. Ice cream, cookies, chocolate bars. . . And then there's the "why eat that if you're going to add that" catagory like apples, pretzels etc. Mmmmm, I'd better go make breakfast.)

UGH!!!!! It's like that disgusting breakfast food that McDonalds came out with awhile ago, McGriddles or something...where the bun has syrup in it but it's a meat sandwich.
Pork has more parasites than any meat EVER!!! Don't eat it!
I am now finishing up week one of my Vegetarian Lifestyle. I subscribed to a Vegetarian Cooking magazine and I have discoved the AMAZING taste of Tomato and Avacado sandwiches on high five fiber bread from Great Harvest. Yum!!!!
I am just over meat, and all the horrible chemicals and hormones they pump into it!
Amber, any suggestions on favorite foods and meals would be much appreciated!
oh, I just love food and I love recommending good vegetarian food.
I don't even know where to start(uh, btw it's tulip to you toots).
pardon me while I gag on the memory of the McGriddle you mentioned. Yuck!
So, yes. Sandwiches are such an amazing place to begin. Grilled summer veggies, heavy on the onions make amazing sandwiches. Avacado, if you can afford it goes with everything, but especially with spincah and goat cheese!!!!
Try lots of spreads made with olives or sundried tomatoes, garbanzo beans, mushrooms and on and on.
smoothies galore! add some silky tofu for the extra protein if you need to.
I do fish these days. Farm raised. And shellfish in moderation. I made tilapia on a bed of sauteed spinach(from our garden--out of this world) w/ garlic and then smothered in sauteed onions. Matt and Eli were in heaven.
Also spinach crepes!!!! YUMMY!
Em's fresh salsa recipe is a staple in our house. With my homemade refried black beans, tortillas anyway you like 'em and cheese or whatever you can be happy for days.
ok, I better stop now.
yes! Tulip (sorry for the slipup!) that is what I have discovered. This awesome deli down the road makes these huge avocado and tomato sandwiches to die for!
today I took wheat naan, spread hummus on it, added avocado, tomato, sprouts, romaine, cucumber and yum! Dinner heaven. Then for dessert I cut up strawberries with a dollop of plain organic yogurt!
eatin' good in the neighborhood!
You ladies are making me hungry!
I agree with you on the zucchini vs bacon whatever cookie. My body definitely responded just sitting here to your words. It knows what makes it feel good. Yum.
Wysteria, my favorite recipe for sandwich includes spreading avocado on one slice, cream cheese (sorry a little bit of sin) on the other and then lining it with some cucumber slices, tomato slices (although watch the current FDA warning), sprouts and some vinegar oil and salt. Yum!
I love the lentil soup from tulip especially in the winter!
I have been loving hummus! I had a hummus sandwich, like a pb since i have those all the time.
